#Tesla is building the largest backup battery in the world in Australia

Elon Musk famously promised that in 100 days Tesla could provide 100 megawatts of battery storage in response to blackouts put 1.7 million residents in the dark, and guess what? Looks like he’s delivering on his promise, supplying a Powerpack battery storage system capable of powering over 30,000 residences. The South Australian government carried out a competitive bidding process, in the end selecting Tesla’s 100-megawatt system to protect the region that was affected by the blackouts. Elon sweetened the deal by promising to provide the system at no cost if they weren’t able to meet the goal within the promised 100 days.
